"Sir, I know the reports are fine. But I just want you to feel my abdomen."

In this quiet request lies the heart of this book. After four decades in cancer surgery — in operating rooms, with families, confronting fear — Dr P. Jagannath, known fondly as Dr Blue, reflects on what medicine truly demands: competence without arrogance, courage without drama, science guided by humility.

This is not a technical manual. It is a document of humanity.

Two forewords

"I am actually a living testimony of Dr Jagannath's mastery of his art."
Amitabh Bachchan
"I was emotionally moved reading this book. His insight into human nature is infinite."
Gulzar

What readers are saying

"Healthcare too lives beyond medicines and operating theatres. It lives in the faith patients place in their doctors, and in the compassion that sustains them through fear."

Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar

"While science may cure disease, it is our humanity that heals. The stories in this book remind us that the greatest legacy of a physician is not merely the diseases treated, but the compassion shared."

Dr Dattatreyudu Nori

"The same gifted hands that heal with a scalpel also move hearts with a pen. His stories are filled with humour and depth."
